John Browning

John was born about 1702 in Essex County, Virginia.¹ John's father was Francis Browning and his mother was Rachel Merritt. His paternal grandparents were John Browning and Elizabeth Demarest. He had six brothers and a sister, named Francis, Edward, James, Thomas, William, Nicholas and Anne. He was the third oldest of the eight children.
