Alexander Borthwick

Alexander was born in 1473 in Nenthorn and Johnstonburn, Haddingtonshire, Scotland.¹ Alexander's father was Sir William of Borthwick and his mother was Mariota Hoppringill. His paternal grandparents were William Borthwick and <Unknown>. He had two brothers and five sisters, named William, Adam, Agnes, Catherine, Christine, Mary and Margaret. He was the youngest of the eight children.
