Zeb B. Vance was born on November 2nd, 1877 in Cleveland Co, NC.1   Zeb B. Vance's father was John Elgin Roberts and his mother was Mary Jane Ware.  His paternal grandparents were John W. Roberts and Judith Clement. He had three brothers and five sisters, named Thomas Franklin, S. Lester, John Ellis, Georgeanna, Laura, Mary Elizabeth, Sudie and Ida Lee.  He was the fifth oldest of the nine children.  He died at the age of 65 on February 16th, 1943 in Logan Store, Rutherford Co, NC.  He was buried on February 16th, 1943 in Elizabeth Baptist Cemetery, Cleveland Co, NC.1
