  Mary Roels was born (9\9\1871\2 and died 3\18\1952).  She married Peter DeWitt (1873-1943) in the Netherlands.  They were both born in the Netherlands.  Mary Roels worked in a boarding house waiting tables.  It was there that she met Peter DeWitt and they later were married.  Peter worked as a night watchman in a furniture factory and in his later years, had his own shoe repair business.  Mary was a housewife.
  
  Their children were:
       1. Gerrit DeWitt (3\10\1899-12\21\1974)
       2. John DeWitt (3\5\1901-5\12\1979)
       3. Cornelius (12\14\1904-8\24\1944)
       4. Arthur (10\12\1906-1\15\1967).  Married Helene Slikkers whose sister dated Al Kalkman son of Casey Kalkman.
       5. Jennie "Jean" (2\2\1903-1987). Frank Clark was a friend of her brothers and would stay at the house.  At this time, he owned a nice Rodster car.  He dated Jean DeWitt and it was through her he met her cousin, Jennie Kalkman.  Frank Clark and Jennie Kalkaman later married.  Jean went to school in Chicago to study music.  She worked in a restaurant for many years.  Irwin Reis was her first husband and she was his second wife.  Irwin Reis was much older than Jean.  She died of lung problems - she had pnemonia when she was a young girl.
       6. Nellie (____-____).  Married Gerritt Keizer.
