Maltby was born in 1805.1   Maltby's father was John Nash and his mother was Martha Little.  His paternal grandparents were John Nash and Martha Graves. He had six brothers and two sisters, named Ansel, Lyman, Russell, Hart, John Hart, Almerin, Clarissa and Martha.  He was the youngest of the nine children. He had a half-brother and two half-sisters, named Russell M., Sophronia and Mary Ann.  He died in 1805.1
