Lester's father was Henry Holland and his mother was Julia Anderson. His paternal grandparents were John Holland and Venie Parrish. He had four brothers and five sisters, named Grady, Ivy, Henry, Charlie, Lucile, Maxie, Venie Mae, Vera and Florrie.-
