William was born in 1733.1   William's father was John Hiett and his mother was Margaret Stephens.  His paternal grandparents were John Hiett and Mary Smith. He had nine brothers and eight sisters, named George, John, Joseph, Evan, James, Jonathon, Timothy, Ebon, Evan, Catherine, Margaret, Ann, Sarah, Ruth, Martha, Phebe and Mary.1
