1   James' father was Peter Godfry and his mother was Mary Brown.  His maternal grandparents were Thomas Brown and Mary Unknown. He had two brothers and six sisters, named Peter, Andrew, Mary, Margaret, Joanne, Sarah, Mary and Elizabeth.1
