Samuel was born on September 19th, 1656.1   Samuel's father was Samuel Dalton and his mother was Mehitabel Palmer.  His paternal grandparents were Philemon Dalton and Dorothy; his maternal grandfather was Henry Palmer. He had five brothers and six sisters, named Philemon, John, Caleb, Joseph, Timothy, Mehitable, Mary, Abigail, Dorothy, Elizabeth and Hannah.2
