James was born on February 3rd, 1856.1   James' father was Charles Bloomer and his mother was Catherine O'Halleran. He had three brothers and eight sisters, named Charles, Edward, John, Johanna, Julia, Ellen, Mary (Mayme), Kate, Martha, Elizabeth and Hattie.  He was the second oldest of the twelve children.1
