Edy was born in 1843.1   Edy's father was John L Banks and her mother was Hannah Wadkins.  Her paternal grandparents were Henry Banks and Catherine Pruitt. She had three brothers and four sisters, named Henry C., William, Alfred, Easter, Anna, Jane and Hannah.  She was the second oldest of the eight children.1
