Karl von Hessen-Philippsthal 
Karl was born in 1682. Karl's father was Philipp von Hessen-Philippsthal and his mother was Katharine Amalie von Solms-Laubach. His paternal grandparents were Wilhelm Vl von Hessen-Kassel and Hedwig Sophie von Brandenburg. He had two brothers and five sisters, named Philipp, Wilhelm, Wilhelmine Hedwig, Amalie, Amoene, Friederike Henriette and Sofie. He was the second oldest of the eight children. He died at the age of 88 in 1770.
