Leopoldiene Dorothea was born in 1731. Leopoldiene Dorothea's father was Josef von Hessen-Rheinfels-Rothenburg and her mother was Christine zu Salm-Neufville. Her paternal grandparents were Ernst Leopold von Hessen-Rheinfels-Rothenburg and Eleonore von Loewenstein-Wertheim-Rochefort. She had a brother and two sisters, named Ernst, Viktoria and Ludovika. She was the second youngest of the four children. She died in jung gestorben.
