Louis I " The Pious " was born in August 0778 in Chassenueil, Aquitaine, France.1   Louis I " The Pious "'s father was Karl Koenig von Frankreich and his mother was Hildegarde von Lizgau.  His paternal grandparents were Pepin "The Short" Koenig von Frankreich and Bertrada II Koenigin von Laon; his maternal grandparents were Gerold I Duke von Schwaben and Imma Duchess von Schwaben. He had six brothers and eight sisters, named Charles "Der Junge" Duke, Charles Emperor vom Roemischen, Pippin (Carloman) Koenig, Pepin Koenig, Lothar Prinz vom Roemischen, Ludwig I "The Pious" Kaiser vom Roemischen, Adelaide, Adelheid Prinzessin vom Roemischen, Rotrud Prinzessin vom Roemischen, Bertha Prinzessin vom Roemischen, Bertha, Gisele Prizessin  vom Roemischen, Hildegard Prinzessin vom Roemischen and Gisela. He had five half-brothers and a half-sister, named Pepin "The Hunchback, Drogo, Hugh, Richbod, Theodoric and Theodrad.  He died in Ingelheim, Germany.1
