Pauline Adelfried was born on October 31st, 1822 in Stuttgart.1 Pauline Adelfried's father was Johann Friederich Benjamin Hoffman and his mother was Ernestine Dorothee Magdalenea Imogena Hartman. His paternal grandparents were Johann Benjamin Hoffmann and Christina Entenmaennin; his maternal grandparents were M. Ludwig Hartmann and Christina Dorothea Sigwartin. He had three brothers and four sisters, named Ludwig Julian Adolph, Earl Wilhelm, Eduard, Dorothea Juliana Mathilde, Julie, Emma and Hostalie Luisa. He was the fourth oldest of the eight children.1 -
