John was born on February 10th, 1794.1 John's father was Benjamin Fortson and his mother was Sally Head Heard. His paternal grandparents were Thomas Fortson and Rachel Winn. He had a brother named James. He was the younger of the two children. He had three half-brothers and five half-sisters, and also two half-siblings of unknown gender, named Thomas, Richard F., Benjamin G., Sarah, Maud, Rachel W., Elizabeth A., Amanda N. M., Easton and Mahala.1 -
