Alfred Ernest was born on August 6th, 1844 in Windsor Castle, Berkshire, England. Alfred Ernest's father was Albert Augustus Charles and his mother was Victoria Hanover Koenigin von England. His paternal grandparents were Ernest I Duke von Sachsen-Coburg-Saalfeld and Louise von Sachsen-Coburg-Altenburg; his maternal grandparents were Edward Augustus Hanover and Victoria Mary Louisa. He had three brothers and five sisters, named Edward VII Wettin Koenig, Arthur William, Leopold George, Victoria Adelaide, Alice Maud Mary von Great, Helena Augusta, Louise Caroline and Beatrice Mary Victoria von Great. He was the fourth oldest of the nine children. He died at the age of 55 on July 30th, 1900 in Schloss Rosenau, Near Coburg.-
