Augusta was born on November 30th, 1719 in Gotha.  Augusta's father was Friedrich II Duke von Sachsen-Gotha and her mother was Magdalena Augusta von Anhalt-Zerbst.  She was an only child.  She died at the age of 52 on February 8th, 1772 in Carlton House.
