Willem III was born about 1281 in Slot Hoef, Egmond-Binnen, Noord Holland, Netherlands.  Willem III's father was Gerand van Egmond and his mother was Elisabeth van Strijen.  His paternal grandparents were Willem II Heer van Egmond and UNKNOWN ?. He had three brothers and a sister, named Wouter II Heer, Claes, Jan and Aleijd.  He was the oldest of the five children.  He died on July 2nd, 1312 in Egmond-Binnen, Noord-Holland, Netherlands.
