Ann Almira was born on September 29th, 1808 in Steubenville, Jefferson Co, OH. Ann Almira's father was Samuel Hunter and her mother was Mary Larimore. Her paternal grandfather was James Hunter; her maternal grandparents were Joseph Larimore and Esther Wherry. She had three brothers and three sisters, named James, Joseph Ebenezer, William Alexander, Esther, Nancy and Sarah. She was the third youngest of the seven children.
