Maud was born about 1283 in Wigmore, Herefordshire, England.  Maud's father was Edmund De Mortimer and her mother was Margaret De Fiennes.  Her paternal grandparents were Roger III De Mortimer and Maud De Braose; her maternal grandparents were William II De Fiennes and Blanche De Brienne. She had five brothers and three sisters, named Roger, Hugh, Walter, Edmund, John, Joan, Margaret and Elizabeth.  She was the oldest of the nine children.  She died on September 18th, 1312 in Alton Castle, Cheadle, Staffordshire, England.  She was buried on October 9th, 1312 in Croxden Abbey, Staffordshire, England.
