Joan was born about 1289 in Wilton Castle, Wilton, Herefordshire, England.  Joan's father was John De Grey and her mother is Maud De Verdun.  Her paternal grandparents were Reynold De Grey and Maud De Longchamp; her maternal grandparents were John le Botiller De Verdun and Eleanor De Bohun. She had a brother named Roger.  She was the older of the two children. She had a half-brother and two half-sisters, named Henry, Maud and Iseult.  She died before April 5th, 1353 in Drayton Bassett, Staffordshire, England.

‌Joan and Ralph were married in a religious ceremony on March 27th, 1304 in Drayton Basset, Staffordshrire, England.  They had a son and a daughter, named Ralph and Isabella.
