Gilbert De Clare 
Gilbert was born in 1100 in Tunbridge, Kent, England. Gilbert's father was Gilbert Fitzrichard De Clare and his mother was Adelaide De Clermont. His paternal grandparents were Richard Fitzgilbert De Clare and Rohese Giffard; his maternal grandparents were Hugh De Clermont and Margaret De Roucy. He had five brothers and four sisters, named Richard Fitzgilbert, Walter, Hervy, Balwin Fitzgilbert, John Fitzgilbert, Isabel, Agnes, Adeliza and Rohese. He was the third youngest of the ten children. He died at the age of 48 on January 6th, 1148. He was buried in Tintern Abbey.General Notes
