Margaret was born in 1156 in Leicestershire, England. Margaret's father was Robert III De Beaumont and her mother was Petronella De Grentesmesnil. Her paternal grandparents were Robert II De Beaumont and Amicia De Montfort. She had three brothers and a sister, named Robert, Roger, William and Amice. She was the youngest of the five children.
