His paternal grandparents are Robert De Bulkeley and Jane Butler; his maternal grandfather was Thomas De Davenport and his maternal grandmother is Agnes De Macclesfield. He has five brothers named William, Robert, Richard, Thomas and David. He is the third oldest of the six children.-
