Elvira was born on March 20th, 1830 in Richmond, Chittendon County, Vermont. Elvira's father was Samuel Straw and her mother was Mary Griffin. Her paternal grandparents were John Straw and Mary Molly Emerson. She had four brothers and seven sisters, named Cyrus Griffith, Sylvester, Franklin Sargent, William, Mary, Elisa, Sally B., Meltham, Ambrosia, Hannah and Wealthy. She died at the age of 90 on January 21st, 1921 in Concord, Rockingham County, New Hampshire. She was buried on January 23rd, 1921 in Haverhill, Grafton County, New Hampshire.-
