John was born on March 12th, 1799 in Sutton, Merrimack County, New Hampshire. John's father was Abraham Peaslee and his mother is Martha Bean. His paternal grandparents were David Peaslee and Rachel Straw. He had two brothers and seven sisters, named Benaiah, Abraham, Hannah, Phebe, Martha, Polly, Sarah, Dorothy and Susanna. He is the second youngest of the ten children.-
