John was born on November 11th, 1768 in Sandown, Rockingham County, New Hampshire. John's father was David Peaslee and his mother was Rachel Straw. His maternal grandparents were John Straw and Lydia Sargent. He had seven brothers and three sisters, named Samuel, Peter, David, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Timothy, Dorothy, Rachel and Sarah. Rachel was born in 1805. She died at the age of 84 on November 4th, 1889 in Sutton, Merrimack, New Hampshire.
