James W. was born on May 3rd, 1853 in Descendant of Somerset England. James W.'s father was Joel James Maryott and his mother was Clarissa Southwick. His maternal grandparents were Jr. Southwick George and Jane Bowron. He had four brothers and four sisters, named Mercy, Stephen M., Geo. H., Aerie Addison, Candace M., Mary Jane, Hulda and Ada.
