His maternal grandparents are Jacob Sargent Colby and Phebe Putney. He had two brothers and a sister, named Jacob, Nathaniel C. and Mary C.. He was the second oldest of the four children. He died at the age of 83 on November 10th, 1899 in Danbury, New Hampshire.-
