His paternal grandparents were Peris Hillard and Clarrisa Kimball. He had five brothers and four sisters, named Benjamin F., Sylvester Allen, Ellsworth Ervin, William E., Wilbert Everett, Anna Powell, Mary Alice, Ellen Jane and Florence J.. He was the youngest of the ten children. He died at the age of 62 in 1934. He was buried in Frontier Cemetery, Frontier, Hillsdale County, Michigan.-
