Jean was born about 1352 in Dundonald, Kyle, Ayrshire, Scotland. Jean's father was Robert II Stewart and her mother was Elizabeth Mure. Her paternal grandparents were Walter Stewart and Marjorie De Bruce; her maternal grandfather was Adam Mure and her maternal grandmother is Johanna De Danielston. She had four brothers and four sisters, named Robert III (John), Walter, Robert, Alexander 'The Wolf Of Badenoch', Margaret, Elizabeth, Isabel and Marjorie. She had six half-brothers and four half-sisters, named David, Walter, John, Alexander, James, John, Margaret, Egidia, Katherine and Daughter. She died after 1440. She was buried in Scone Abbey, Scone, Perthshire, Scotland.General Notes
