Lewis was born on July 17th, 1726 in Shrewsbury, Monmouth, New Jersey, USA.1 Lewis' father was John Morris and his mother was Jacomyntie White. His paternal grandparents were Lewis Morris and Elizabeth Almy; his maternal grandparents were Robert White and Frances Stanley. He had five brothers and three sisters, named John, Robert, Richard, John, Thomas, Elizabeth, Mary and Frances. He is the third oldest of the nine children.-
