John W was born in 1849 in Brookville, Indiana, USA.1 John W's father was Isaac M Cooksey and his mother is Caroline Matilda McCarty. His paternal grandparents were Zachariah Cooksey and Mary Case; his maternal grandparents were Isaac W Mccarty and Margaret Cooksey. He had three sisters named Indiana, Sarah Elizabeth and Mary Alice. He was the second youngest of the four children. He had two half-brothers named Thomas L. and James Albert. He died at the age of 35 on May 4th, 1884.2 -
