Lemuel was born on August 15th, 1749 in Killingly, Windham, Connecticut, USA.1 Lemuel's father was David Barrett and his mother was Abigail Spalding. His paternal grandparents were Moses Barrett and Sarah; his maternal grandparents are Samuel Spalding and Susannah Baker. He had five brothers and ten sisters, named David, Samson, Zilbah, Moses, Oliver, Sarah, Abigail, Mary, Susanna, Zilla, Zipporah, Zerviah, Persis, Phebe and Huldah. He is the third youngest of the sixteen children.-
