Emily was born in 1828 in Collins, Erie, NY, USA.1 Emily's father was Benjamin Albee. Her paternal grandparents were Benjamin Albee and Abigail Thompson. She had seven brothers and five sisters, named Horace, James, John C, Henry, Adolphus, Enoch, Allen, Hannah, Lydia, Prudence, Sarah and Fanny. She is the sixth youngest of the thirteen children.-
