Emma de Burgo was born in 1058 in Mortaigne, France.  Emma de Burgo's father was Robert of Mortain and her mother was Maud De Montgomery.  Her paternal grandparents were Herluin de Conteville and Herleve of Falasia; her maternal grandparents were Robert "The Great" of Montgomery and Mabille de Belleme de Alencon. She had a brother and a sister, named William and Agnes.  She was the second oldest of the three children.  She died about 1080 in Toulouse, France.
