Robert of was born in Normandy, France. Robert of's father was Herluin de Conteville and his mother was Herleve of Falasia. His paternal grandparents were John De Bourg De Tonsburgh and Dame de Meullent; his maternal grandparents were Fulbert "The Tanner" De Falaise and Duxia (Doda). He had a brother and two sisters, named Odo of, Emma and Muriel. He had a half-brother and two half-sisters, named William I of, Adeliza and Adeliza of. He died on December 8th, 1090.
