Isaac was born in 1806 in NC. Isaac's father was Shubal York and his mother was Mary Grimes. His paternal grandparents were Semore York and Sylvania L Aldredge. He had two sisters named Esther and Nancy. He was the oldest of the three children. He had four half-brothers and three half-sisters, named William, Barnaby, Jones, Shubel Jr., Patsy, Betsy and Mary.-
