Adelheid was born about 1187 in Zutphen, Gelderland, Netherlands. Adelheid's father was Otto I Van Guelders and her mother was Richardis Von Scheyern-Wittelsbach. Her paternal grandparents were Hendrik II Van Guelders Zutphen and Agnes Von Arnstein; her maternal grandparents were Otto Von Wittelsbach and Agnes of Bavaria. She had three brothers and three sisters, named Gerhard Van Gelre en, Hendrik III, Lodewijk, Margaretha, Irmgard and Mechtild. She was the third oldest of the seven children. She died on November 4th, 1218 in Vlaardingen, Zuid Holland, Netherlands.-
