Hildegarde was born about 0964 in Anjou, France.  Hildegarde's father was Count William ("Ironarm", Fier-áa-bras) II or IV of Poitou and her mother was Emma of Blois.  Her paternal grandparents were Duke William I or III of Aquitaine and Adele of Normandy; her maternal grandparents were Theobold de Troyes II and Luitgarda of Vermandois. She had a brother named "the Great", "the Grand", "fier de bras".  She was the older of the two children.  She died on April 1st, 1046 in Jerusalem, Palastein.


Hildegarde's family with Count Fulk ("the Black", "le Noir") de Grisgonelle III of Anjou

‌Hildegarde and "the Black", "le Noir" were married in a religious ceremony in 1000 in Anjou, France.  They had a daughter named Ermengarde.
