Duke Charles ("the Younger") of Ingelheim 
Charles, known as "the Younger", was born in 0772 in Aachen, Prussia. "the Younger"'s father was Emperor Charlemagne of the Holy Roman Empire and his mother was Hildegarde of Vinzgau. His paternal grandparents were King Pepin ("the Short") III Martel and Bertrada ("the Younger/Au Grand Pied", "big foot") II of Laon; his maternal grandparents were Duke Gerold I of Swabia and Duchess Emma von Swabia of Vinzgau. He had two brothers and three sisters, named "the Pious", "the Hunchback", Rotrude, Bertha and Alpaid. He had a half-brother and two half-sisters, named Hugo, Dhoude Liegarde and Hiltrud.
