John Samuel was born on April 4th, 1854 in Webster Co., VA. John Samuel's father was John B Bender and his mother was Catherine Coger. His paternal grandfather was Isaac Bender and his paternal grandmother is Hannah Bucher; his maternal grandparents are William C Cogar Sr. and Elizabeth Kingery. He was an only child. He died at the age of 82 in December 1936.-
