William Barton 
William was born in 1754 in Ireland.1 William's father was Thomas Barton and his mother was Esther Rittenhouse. His maternal grandparents were Matthias Rittenhouse and Elizabeth Williams. He had five brothers and two sisters, named David Rittenhouse, Matthias, Richard Peters, Thomas, Benjamin Smith, Esther and Juliana Susanna. He is the oldest of the eight children.-
