Her paternal grandparents were Neils Jakobsen and Karen Dorthea Nielsen; her maternal grandparents were Rasmus EDIASEN and Karen HANSEN. She had a brother and two sisters, named Jacob Nicoloi, Karen Johanna and Jakobine Benedigte. She was the second youngest of the four children.
