Niels was born on September 27th, 1761 in Bidstrup, Birkerod, Frederiksborg, Denmark.1   Niels' father was Jens OLSEN and his mother is Gjertrud NIELSEN. He had three brothers and two sisters, named Ole, Lars, Lars, Anne and Karen.  He is the second youngest of the six children.
