Isaac was born about 1655 in Freetown, Bristol, MA. Isaac's father was John Hathaway and his mother was Martha Shephard. His paternal grandfather was Nicholas Hathaway and his paternal grandmother is Mrs-Nicholas Hathaway; his maternal grandparents were John Sheppard and Frances Kingston. He had three brothers and three sisters, named John, Abraham, Ephraim, Elizabeth, Rebecca and Abigail. He was the third oldest of the seven children. He died on December 17th, 1722 in Berkley, Essex, MA.-
