Bessie E. was born on March 7th, 1898 in Kentucky. Bessie E.'s father was Samuel S. , Rev. Underwood and her mother was Rachel Bell Judd. Her paternal grandfather was Abraham Hiram Underwood and her paternal grandmother is Mary Roark. She had two brothers and a sister, named Van Cleveland, Alfa D. and Lona B.. She was the second youngest of the four children. She had two half-brothers and three half-sisters, named John Lewis, Willis H., Malinda Jane, Mary J. and Catherine Elizabeth. She died at the age of 91 on December 6th, 1989 in Hodgenville,Larue Co.,Kentucy.-
