Vernon William was born on July 28th, 1874 in Holmes County,Mississippi. Vernon William's father was William Stein Thomas and his mother was Elmira N. His paternal grandfather was Patrick Boyd Thomas and his paternal grandmother is Caroline Unk. He had two brothers and four sisters, named Patrick, Paul Stein, Annie, Kate, Pearl and Ruby. He died at the age of 89 on November 26th, 1963. He was buried in Ebenezer Baptist Church Cemetery,Holmes County,Mississippi.
