Francis Smalley 
Francis was born on October 26th, 1625 in Bideford,Devon,England. Francis' father was Edward Smalley and his mother is Elizabeth Shurt\Shirt. His maternal grandparents are John Shurt and Mary Lugge. He had two brothers and three sisters, named Edmond, William, Elizabeth, Mary and Elizabeth. He had a half-brother named John. He died at the age of 88 in 1713 in Truo,Massachusetts.General Notes
With his brothers, Edward and Samuel , Francis plied his trade at the mast-yard in Dover, styling himself carpenter. In Captain John Gerrish's account of ye Masting Aug 09, 1686 , ...Franc: Small is credited with work upon the Madbury bridge, and his name also appears upon several other time-tables. The "1 payr french sols: which were charged to him were doubless a luxury but little indulged in at that period.
Francis and Elizabeth were married in a religious ceremony in 1648 in Kittery,Maine. They had five sons and three daughters, named Edward, Francis Jr., Samuel, Benjamin, Daniel, Mary, Alice and Elizabeth.
